Challenges remain in ensuring minority rights respected globally, says Ban Ki-moon

27 November 2012 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to addressing the concerns of minorities worldwide, while noting that many challenges remain in ensuring that their rights are respected.

“The United Nations has a crucial role to play in minority protection,” Mr. Ban said in a videomessage to the UN Forum on Minority Issues, which is meeting in Geneva today and tomorrow.'s picture

Celebrating Our Faiths

On Saturday 17th November at the South Lakes Foyer, a gathering of at least 50 people shared aspects of their faiths. The Foyer's main room was filled to capacity with 16 large tables - each "stall" represented a coming together of the different faiths in South Lakeland. 

The stalls covered many different viewpoints, with each working together with great interest and respect in what was covered in the displays.
