Equality and Diversity in Cumbria Film

In 2011 community development workers from Cumbria Equality Resource Centre conducted a number of interviews with people from across Cumbria. Interviewees included people from BME, LGBT, and disabled communities and representatives from the organisations that support them.

From the 100 hours of raw footage that we shot, a number of films about equality and diversity in Cumbria were created; one of these can be seen below.

Skills For Sporting Futures, 16-25yr olds, West Cumbria & CYA Training Schedule 2012

Skills for sporting futures is a exciting new project that gives local young people 16-25yrs who are deemed as NEET (not in education, employment or training) real opportunities into the world of sports, leisure and the outdoors.

The project is to help assist these young people into volunteering and work through the provision of sporting qualifications. The project also gives the young people chance for self development, personal challenges and growth.

More than 160 charity leaders have written to George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, calling for greater independent scrutiny of government spending decisions.


Equality Cumbria is an umbrella organisation that encompasses a number of different charities based in Cumbria. Together they tackle inequality in race, religion, sexuality and more.
